Resistance tubing the Alternative to a Home gym and Free Weights
I want to show you how Resistance tubing can be every bit as function for working out from home as a home gym system or free
weights. I want you to be able to save money, and not keep a bulky piece of equipment for exercising in one of your spare bedrooms. This article
will explain the key benefits of using resistance tubing, and provide some sample exercises you can do in any room of your home.
Quality of work outs
When you're using free weights the majority of the work is done when you first get the weight moving. By the time you've moved the weight it's
full motion part of the work was done by momentum. In contrast when you're using resistance tubing as you push or pull the tube further the
amount of resistance you're working against increases. This is the unique benefit of using exercise bands.
Resistance training gives your workouts a different feel, and also shapes and tones your body differently.
Cost and portability
I don't think anyone will argue that buying free weights to use at home, or a home gym machine is expensive. I haven't priced it up recently,
but I'd guess you'd be spending $500 or more. Compare that to a complete resistance tubing set like Bodylastics, which retails in the $50 - $100 range, and you've got big savings.
It's not only dollars you can save using resistance tubing but also space. You need room some where in your home to store free weights
or have a home gym machine. It's more or less a permanent fixture in your home some where. An exercise tube set can be stored in its own nylon
carry case, takes up no more room then a foot square, and can be used in just about any room of your home.
All the same exercises
Some might think that you're sacrificing certain exercises by switching to exercise tubing. In fact you're able to work all the same muscles
as before, and more. Take a look at some of the workouts you can with a resistance tubing set here.
Also here are just a couple of example Resistance Training Exercises:
Overhead press with resistance tubing
- Stand on top of a tube with both feet
- Grab one handle with each hand, and push your hands straight up above your head
- Keep you palms facing each other and your elbows slightly bent
A great shoulder exercise that compares to a shoulder press with dumb bells
Chest Press with exercise tubes
- Connect the band with door anchor, or something solid behind you
- Hold each handle with the bands coming around your side and under each armpit
- With palms facing each other squeeze the chest and press the arms out in front of you
Similar to a chest or bench press this works your chest.
Resistance band Bicep Curl
- Just like with the overhead press stand on the center of the tube (the wider your feet are apart the more resistance you'll have)
- With each hand grasp one side of the tube
- Bend your elbows and curl the hands up towards the shoulders
